Curriculum Progression

Pupils of compulsory school age must follow the national curriculum. It contains subjects, classified in legal terms as ‘core’ and ‘other foundation’ subjects. The teaching staff at Market Weighton Infant School work closely as a team to plan children’s learning around a detailed set of subject specific curriculum progression documents. These enable teachers to plan a well-thought out curriculum so that children accumulate more and more knowledge as they progress from our Nursery or Reception through to the end of Year 2. Teachers are aware that planning must always have an eye on longer-term learning and the part that knowledge building plays in this.
